Hmm. To see or not to see, that is the question

I'm thinking about getting Lasik. Well, not just thinking, I am pretty sure I'm going to get it very soon. I was going to use my extra money to pay off my car, but I realized that my rates are so low, and I can always save more and pay it off while financing lasik over like 2 years. The problem is, I don't know where to go.

I made an appointment for Filutowski lasik institute which I'll be going to on Thursday, but the prices START at $1900 an eye. I don't know about that. I'll listen to their sales pitch and leave if it is out of my budget.

I was hoping for no more than 3k for both eyes including follow up, maybe pay a little more for the lifetime vision plan (lifetime adjustments at no extra cost..etc).

*meh*

I want it so bad, but I'm so hesitant to spend the $.

If it were a movie it would be even better, because you know they're all screaming out in their little midget voices :X

Yeah. I think W has pretty much ruled that idea out.

I've been looking into lasik too. If I didn't have the car issues, I would be all over it.

I wish I knew of people with 1st hand experience elsewhere, because 4+grand just seems like so much money :(.

I have enough, but it's not something I want to throw that much money at, so it's quite a dilemma.

Until I hear that they've cured all the side effects for 100% certain, I'm not getting it myself.

October 18 2005, 18:45:37 UTC 6 years ago

The worst side effects that happen in the most slim cases are still better than what I deal with daily.

I don't know, I hear about things like still needing glasses to read, or that you lose your ability to distinguish colors that are nearly alike, or your visual "sharpness" suffers, or your nightvision suffers, and I just think "Meh, I'm fine with contacts."

There's just too much that could go wrong, especially for the amount of money they're asking.

The few people I do know that have it say it's the best thing that ever happened to them. I'll take the dive and let you know how it is :)

See, i've always had problems with contacts. They irritate my eyes and I can't wear them for more than 2-3 hours at a time. I absolutely hate glasses, so it's this big catch 22. I've tried every kind of contact for astimgatism available as well. My doctor said that I just might have to deal with glasses, in which I went EFF DAT YO.

But yeah, I'm not wanting to go 'cheap' on it, but this place is just the 'premiere' lasik center of florida, and one of the only ones doing non invasive intralasik. I'll see how I feel after the consultation.

Alright, that's the best way to go either way, ya know?

I mean I can certainly understand it if contacts don't work for you like that, wow. I wear mine most of the time with no defects, unless it's been like 20 hours or so, and I'm playing a game, then I need eyedrops, but otherwise, they're fine.

I hate wearing glasses with a passion. They get in the way and I can't do the eye touching thing for lenses. Lasik has been something I've been talking about having for a few years. By the time I'm ready, the technology could be even better.

My friend Chris had it 3 years ago and has had perfect 20/15 vision since. He's the only one I know who has had it and he's had no trouble with it.

Sex worker Camille Cabral, representing French prostitutes, poses next to a European Union flag after a press conference organised by the International Committee on the Rights of Sex Workers in Europe (ICRSE), at the European Parliament in Brussels, October 17, 2005. The ICRSE wants to end the criminalization of the sex industry and give prostitutes the same social rights as other workers.

Good luck finding anything cheaper as far as Lasik goes. $2k an eye is pretty much the standard, unless you go to a sketchy doctor. $2k was the lowest I was ever quoted; $4k was the highest.

Do it!!! I had LASIK about 5 years ago and I've pretty much forgotten that I used to be extremely blind. It's worth EVERY PENNY. But make sure you get a good doctor.
